Candidates on the Professional Master of Education Art & Design (PME A&D) programme who successfully complete Year 1 of the programme and opt not to proceed or complete the second year of the programme.
Candidates who opt to exit and graduate with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education Studies (Post-Primary) (Art & Design) will not be eligible to apply to register with the Teaching Council.

Programme Learning Outcomes for the Postgraduate Diploma in Education Studies (Post-Primary) (Art & Design) (NFQ Level 9, Major Award)
On successful completion of this programme, students should be able to:
- Critically evaluate various theories of teaching, learning and assessment, including curriculum design, and apply these theories to assist in planning lessons in the classroom.
- Select from complex and advanced skills in the field of Education and develop new skills, including those of pedagogy and assessment practices.
- Appraise the role of the teacher in the modern classroom.
- Synthesise the key components of some areas of current research in the field of Education.
- Discuss topics in the field of Education to demonstrate a critical awareness of current problems and new insights informed by developments in the area.
- Communicate effectively key aspects of knowledge and understanding in the field of Education to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
