Students on the MSc (International Public Policy and Diplomacy) who successfully achieve the pass standard in Part I may opt not to proceed to Part II and may opt instead to be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma in International Public Policy and Diplomacy. Students who pass all taught modules in Part I (60 credits) and who fail the dissertation or fail to submit the dissertation will exit with a Postgraduate Diploma in International Public Policy and Diplomacy.

Programme Learning Outcomes for Postgraduate Diploma in International Public Policy and Diplomacy (NFQ Level 9, Major Award)
On successful completion of this programme, students should be able to:
- Describe and critically analyse contemporary global policy challenges and the contemporary global policy-making environment, including international organisations and international law;
- Identify and assess the impact of global policy challenges and global policymaking processes on national governments;
- Produce policy-oriented analysis and recommendations;
- Show awareness of social science research methods and their applicability to policy analysis;
- Demonstrate the skills necessary to work in a policy-oriented international environment (e.g., synthesis, analysis and evaluation; report writing; oral presentation skills; leadership; negotiation skills).
