The MA (Classical Studies) is a full-time programme running for 12 months or a part-time programme running for 24 months from the date of first registration for the programme.
Exit Award: Postgraduate Certificate in Classical Studies
MA candidates who pass 30 credits of taught modules from Part I may choose to exit the programme and be awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Classical Studies. A student who subsequently applies to continue to a Master's must do so within 5 years of successful completion of the Postgraduate Certificate.

Programme Learning Outcomes
Programme Learning Outcomes for the MA (Classical Studies) (NFQ Level 9, Major Award)
On successful completion of this programme, students should be able to:
- Demonstrate a critical awareness of the major issues and problems within the field of Roman Studies;
- Evaluate a broad range of primary and secondary sources related to Roman studies;
- Demonstrate a knowledge of the preservation and transmission of Roman culture into the modern era;
- Demonstrate an enhanced knowledge of Latin;
- Demonstrate an enhanced knowledge of Greek;
- Pursue an extended Master's level research and writing project, showing appropriate research, writing and technical skills, demonstrated in a 20,000 word dissertation.
