Exit Award only
Upon successful completion of modules to the value of at least 60 credits (including the 30 credits on the Postgraduate Certificate in Infection Prevention and Control and the 30 credits of taught modules: EH6088, EH6148, EH6153 and EH6157) students may opt to exit the MSc (Infection Prevention and Control) programme and be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Infection Prevention and Control.
Students who either fail to submit the research dissertation or fail to attain the pass standard in the dissertation in either the first or repeat year will graduate with a Postgraduate Diploma in Infection Prevention and Control.

Programme Learning Outcomes for Postgraduate Diploma in Infection Prevention and Control (NFQ Level 9, Major Award)
On successful completion of this programme, students should be able to:
- Critically evaluate implementation of infection prevention and control guidelines;
- Discuss the methods of investigating and controlling outbreaks of infection;
- Demonstrate an understanding of the common challenges in the application of infection prevention and control and strategies to manage same;
- Critically evaluate effective teaching and support strategies in the implementation of infection prevention and control;
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the application of different research approaches;
- Demonstrate a knowledge of the development and implementation of a systematic review.
