Candidates on the MA (Irish Traditional Music) who pass at least 60 credits of taught modules may opt to exit the programme and be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Irish Traditional Music.

Students may not take elective modules which they have previously passed at undergraduate level. 
Students may take an alternative 5 credit elective (to be approved by the programme coordinator and relevant module co-ordinator) in a relevant/related field selected from another UCC MA programme where the student meets the entry requirements.

Programme Learning Outcomes for Postgraduate Diploma in Irish Traditional Music (NFQ Level 9, Major Award)

On successful completion of this programme, students should be able to:

• Demonstrate a critical understanding of multi-disciplinary scholarship in Irish Traditional Music and related areas;
  
• Critically engage with research and discourse on the history and evolution of Irish Traditional Music;
  
• Develop improved skills in musical performance and creativity within the idiom of Irish Traditional Music;
  
• Identify and develop key transferrable professional skills through a range of relevant elective modules;
