Overview
NFQ Level 7, Special Purpose Award
This diploma programme is available only to students from partner Chinese universities, with whom University College Cork signs a bilateral agreement under Statute 263 of the National University of Ireland. Having studied for three years at a partner Chinese university, students will study for one year at University College Cork, taking the diploma programme to the value of 60 credits.

Programme Requirements
To be considered for the award of the Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Studies, a student must have satisfactorily attended undergraduate modules to the value of 60 credits as part of a programme of study agreed by the School of Engineering and Architecture and the partner Chinese university, and subject to timetabling and other constraints.
Between 40 and 60 of these credits should be chosen from undergraduate Electrical and Electronic Engineering modules, which are selected in consultation with and with the approval of the Head of Discipline (Electrical and Electronic) and of the Head of School of Engineering and Architecture, UCC.
Students wishing to take and Electrical and Electronic Engineering project based module, e.g. EE4050 (10 credits), require the permission of the Head of Discipline (Electrical and Electronic) and of the Head of School of Engineering and Architecture, UCC to allow this choice.
Students may take up to 20 credits from other undergraduate modules in other subjects with the approval of the department/school offering the module(s).
Where a module has prerequisites (as specified in the module description), a student must satisfy these prerequisites by demonstrating, to the satisfaction of the School, that a similar module has been passed in the partner Chinese university. The full programme of study is subject to final agreement by the School of Engineering and Architecture and the partner Chinese university.

Programme Learning Outcomes for Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Studies (NFQ Level 7, Special Purpose Award)
On successful completion of this programme, students should be able to:
- Apply information technology to visualise and analyse problems in Electrical and Electronic Engineering;
- Identify, formulate, analyse and solve problems relating to the relevant engineering disciplines;
- Gain both theoretical and practical knowledge of a number of advanced topics in Electrical and Electronic Engineering;
- Demonstrate the ability to successfully adapt to the teaching and learning style of an Irish university, with modules taught in the English language.
