Overview

Cúrsa 12 mhí (lánaimseartha) nó cúrsa 24 mhí (páirtaimseartha).

Cúrsa a bhfuil dhá chuid ann, mar leanas, atá á thairiscint ag Roinn na Nua-Ghaeilge le haghaidh na céime:

• Cuid I: sé cinn de mhodúil a múinfear dhá thráthnóna sa seachtain i gcaitheamh na bliana, agus a mbeidh scrúduithe scríofa á leanúint sa Gheimhreadh nó sa Samhradh;
• Cuid II: tráchtas gearr, a mbeidh aontú na Roinne leis, a scríobhfaidh an mac léinn faoi stiúradh duine foirne de chuid na Roinne agus go mbeidh idir 12,000-15,000 focal ann.

Postgraduate Diploma in Modern Irish

Candidates who pass at least 60 credits of taught modules may elect to exit the programme and be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Modern Irish.

Programme Learning Outcomes for MA in Modern Irish (NFQ Level 9, Major Award)

On successful completion of this programme, students should be able to:

• Assess a broad range of literature in its historical context;
  
• Express themselves with confidence in the written language using different registers and specialised vocabularies;
  
• Appreciate the nuances of literary discourse with particular reference to Irish-language poetry and prose;
  
• Engage with the rich lexicon of the Irish tradition and with its various forms of expression;
  
• Distinguish between the salient features of the principal dialects of the modern language and to accurately express themselves in one of them;
  
• Decipher unpublished Irish-language manuscript material in its original form;
  
• Research a specialised topic using the latest methodologies and present the results in the form of a dissertation.
