Programme Learning Outcomes
Programme Learning outcomes for Postgraduate Diploma in Music and Cultural History (NFQ Level 9, Major Award)
On successful completion of this programme students, should be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the intellectual and international history and theories of musicology, and identify key trends and developments in recent musicology;
- Apply a range of critical methodologies to notated, performed, and recorded music;
- Identify salient features of music and communicate their findings effectively;
- Reflect critically on the engagement between musicology and related disciplines; and on the relationship between music, musicology and select Sustainable Development Goals;
- Display critical research, writing and presentation skills, in connection with musical scholarship;
- Exhibit fluency in discussing and writing about music and its cultural contexts;
